Gravity Guns, Gyrocopters And 6 More Rage 2 Features You’ll Love
Rage 2 is this week's post-apocalyptic destination, with shiny new Rage 2 PC gameplay to show off the open world, gravity guns and our very own gyrocopter. Rage 2 is a fun mash-up of what id and Avalanche do best - so here at 6 new Rage 2 features we think you’ll love.
Rage 2 arrives on PC on 14 May - so it's not quite the end of the world yet. We’ll have a Rage 2 review on the channel in time for release date, but for now you’ll have to settle for Rage 2 impressions from our hands-on. We played two hours in the open world, exploring the Rage 2 map and competing in Mutant Bash TV. Rage 2’s open world is fuller than Rage 1’s, with gun and power upgrades to earn by helping locals and a heap of things to discover. You'll get a taste in our Rage 2 preview gameplay.
We got to try new Rage 2 weapons, like the gravity gun that channels the spirit of Just Cause tethers. Another Rage 2 gun we love is the shotgun - its alt fire mode sends people flying, as demonstrated in our Rage 2 gameplay. The new Rage 2 powers and abilities also make a huge difference as you shatter, slam and suck people into the vortex grenade. It's a treat. The Rage 2 vehicles aren't quite as fun, but you can always hop out.
We’ve played nowhere enough to offer a full Rage 2 PC review - keep an eye on Rock Paper Shotgun: The Site for that one - but we like how it taps into what makes id and Avalanche tick: the speed and fury of the former, the experimentation of the latter. It's also gorgeous - I wish our Rage 2 PC gameplay was a higher resolution than 1080p as it looks wonderful in detail. The first Rage was solid, but didn't deliver on its full potential, based on this new Rage 2 PC gameplay, we think it’s working out.
In this video we look at Rage 2 missions, how powers allow for flexible combat, how the level design keeps up id's intensity and drool over some rocket launchers and shotguns. In this Rage 2 preview we show off open world gameplay and some mission fun. You’ll see how each has its own flavour of action and art and how this is adding up into a tasty mix of events.
If you have any questions about our Rage 2 gameplay and impressions please do pop them in the comments. We’ll answer any questions we can. Sorry again for the b-roll in this video - we don’t usually make videos with supplied capture. Hopefully we’ve given you a good taste of the game. We will cover Rage 2 to release and beyond, so please look forward to our full Rate 2 review. We are looking forward to playing it on May 14th and will be sure to have plenty more coverage of Rage 2 in the run-up to release.
