Shift 2 has lot better graphics, but handling is smoother in GRID. It is lot harder to drive in Shift 2, you need more than basic skills to make some good times in Shift 2, however in GRID you don't need much skill to be able to make a clean lap without crashing, GRID is more arcadish, while Shift 2 is more realistic.
Damage however is more realistic in GRID, in Shift 2 you need quite a lot to break your car, while in GRID it is enough to crash once and you can't continue the race or with good luck your car starts to pull to one side.
Sounds are also better in Shift 2 and replay options are bit better in Shift 2, also all lap times can be seen in Shift 2 which makes it good for practicing and seeing all lap times.
at end, i show you the lap times in Shift 2 and .. they are absolutely phenomenal, check how small difference there is.
