In this Let's Play video, you will see me play Grit and Valor - 1949 (Full Game Release). This game is a Roguelite Strategy Real Time Tactics game with Tower Defense like elements. The premise of the game is you're on an Alternate Earth in World War 2 with the Evil Axis forces taking over the world and they have a Headquarter called "Machine Tower" which you need to eventually destroy. I got a lot of Star Wars, Terminator, and The Matrix (movie) vibes here. Go on Campaign Missions and defeat waves of enemy attacks while Protecting your Command Vehicle (think of this as a mobile base) with your Squad of three Mechs. There are three mech types, Fire Mech, Explosive Mech, and the Ballistic Mech. These three unit types are like Rock, Paper, Scissors. Where Explosives are good against Ballistics, Ballistics are good against Fire, and Fire is good against Explosives. The Command Vehicle can not attack but can move around to complete optional objectives (highlighted purple) or be used to collect reward crates. Your units are highlighted blue and the enemies are highlighted red. You lose when your Command Vehicle is destroyed or when all battle mechs are loss. The game mechanics are fairly easy to to figure out. When you go on "Campaign" Missions, your units get limited skill charges, health, and armor. Their status carry over from one battle to the next battle, so you must be careful and strategic on how you spend your charges. If you lose a Mech in a Battle, that's one less Mech you will be able to use on your next. There are 4 resources that you can earn on your Campaign Mission Runs: Scraps, Black Coins, Blueprints and Valors. Scraps are used to craft equipment modules for your Mech and Valor is spent on upgrading your Pilot Skills. Blueprints are used for unlocking new Mechs. When you're back at the Resistance Base, you can spend your resources and configure your equipment loadout and pilots. Black Coins are for Rerolls or Purchasing Items from Salvage Shops on Missions. After each successful Combat Battles you can choose "boosters" that help you only for the duration of the Campaign Mission. This game is very fun to play! The graphics and art styles are gorgeous. It has a lot of "BattleTech", "MechWarrior", "MechCommander 2", "Command and Conquer", "Red Alert" vibes with a mix of "Into the Breach" and "Metal Slug Tactics". In some ways, it feels like an "XCOM" but with Real Time Tactics (that you can Pause/Freeze). I highly recommend adding it to your Wishlist or buying the game.
