It is a dark time for humanity. Governments across the world are collapsing. Xander's reign over the world seems inevitable.

After the tragic death of Ivan, Xander's true power was unleashed. Realizing there was no possible escape, Jake pleaded with Xander to reveal his plans with the Osmosis Device. His goal: regress human beings across the planet so they would all fall under his control. However, while he may command the infection, he did not create it. It was previously believed to be Carter, or rather, someone that looked like him. The horrifying truth was discovered: the person that started the infection was none other than Justin DeShaun, who was commanded by Xander to start the outbreak and kill his best friends: Jake and Manny.

Alex, seemingly knocked unconscious after Carter threw him off of a building in a fit of rage, found himself awakened in a confined room submerged well below sea level. Designed by Gordon Cash, it was a prison designed for serum users. Gordon explained to Alex that Jake decided to keep Alex alive for reasons unknown.

Xander's decision to wipe out humanity was due to his time in captivity by NullCorp, a radical corporation known for biological experiments. After years of suffering, Xander's power was unchained. Though he may not look it, he is no more than 14 years old. He grew to adulthood as quickly as 9 years.

Later, Xander saw no further use for James and the others. He began to torture James which led Carter to attack Xander with everything he had. Unfortunately, his power was no match for him and he was gravely injured.

Their deaths seemed all but certain; until Charlene discovered Katherine had been tracking movements of infected for some time. She found herself at a quarry where the zombies were intending to dig out a segment of the Osmosis Device. Charlene contacted Jake and informed him of this.

To buy Katherine time to get the part and escape, Jake fought against Xander with the best method he had: his mind. Xander found it very difficult to read Jake's mind due to his intense mental training. And it was then that Jake revealed his full name to Xander, one that shall live in infamy to infected forever: Jake Stone. He also broke the news to Xander that he knew where an Osmosis Device segment was located.

At just the right moment, Alex flew a plane filled with HMX directly into Xander, causing the entire hangar to explode. It allowed Jake, James, Maia and Carter to escape with their lives. Alex later approached them and explained he was willing to help them, just as Jake decided to help him.

Jake later had a private talk with Carter, who revealed his true reasoning for wanting to reshape the world. Carter believed that Procassium, in theory, could be used for the benefit of humanity, not as a weapon. However, he realized that Xander had thwarted his plan and made his mission pointless. Ready to give up and die, Jake pleaded with Carter to fight alongside him, one last time.

Alex and Maia brought an injured James to Marcus Arkwright's yacht, a person Alex has history with. Jake joined the rest of the crew as well. Unfortunately, their reunion was cut short when they were discovered by infected.

The battle seemed overwhelming for them, but at the last moment, Carter showed up to save them and they barely escaped. Marcus, however, stayed behind and was believed to have been killed when his yacht was destroyed.

While hope may have seemed lost for everyone, Jake led his team to a secret base he had been harboring for years. A place he called, The New Horizon.

With humanity on the brink of collapse, Xander's power seems nigh unstoppable. The world is at great risk of seeing everything held dear destroyed forever. But Xander won't be the only threat posing to Jake and his team....
