Xander's power is unbelievable, and his dominance over Earth seems inevitable.

As James and Maia travel across the world to recruit allies in the final battle against the infected, the remaining survivors make their stand at homeground.

Alex seemingly had his entire memory restored as he was no longer experiencing any flashes of his past. Despite this, the origins of his life still remain a mystery. He recollected which memories were restored to the rest of the group, but as he made these explanations, they only raised more questions than answers.

Once obtaining the final part of the Osmosis Device, Xander concepted a plan to wipe everyone out at once: to unveil the Osmosis part which in turn would cause a radiation spike to be detected. Katherine was able to observe this occurrence, and contacted Marcus to warn him of the coming threat.

Once arriving at the New Horizon base, Marcus informed the group of Xander's ominous plan. Recognizing there may be an opportunity to take an Osmosis part out of his possession, the group sought after the location of the part.

Matters turned from bad to worse as Xander had organized the outcome of this battle. Once they arrived, a swarm of infected ambushed them. Carter and Alex attempted to fight Xander while the others went after the part.

Their worst fears were realized when not one, but two Omegas were in their path. They had no choice but to retreat with the Osmosis part left behind.

The fight against Xander seemed hopeless as well. Not only were both Carter and Alex greatly outmatched, but Xander demonstrated a new ability he recently discovered: telekinesis.

Although Marcus's men provided invaluable time for Jake, Gordon and Katherine to put distance between themselves and the Omegas, they proved no match against Xander's capabilities. Even with the additional strength of Carter's mutated form, it became clear this was going to be a losing battle.

Jake, Gordon and Katherine found themselves surround by both of the Omegas, and incredibly, Carter in his mutated form was able to destroy both of them. This allowed a rescue helicopter to extract Jake, Gordon and Katherine. Despite Carter's impressive strength, Xander had enough and knocked him unconscious.

Xander also noticed the helicopter attempting to escape, and Alex pleaded with him to let them live. Xander had no interest in letting them escape, and using his newly found powers, caused the helicopter to crash, seemingly killing everyone on board.

At this moment, something in Alex snapped, and his rage for what Xander had done became so monumental that he underwent some type of metamorphosis. Miraculously, Alex had somehow managed to hold Xander back for a brief moment. But their hopes were shortly lived when Xander revealed he wasn't even using a third of his power and nearly killed Alex in the process.

Marcus shortly arrived wearing a Peacemaker suit, and used it to distract Xander while everyone else escaped. With his death becoming inescapable, Marcus self-destructed the Peacemaker suit, causing a large nuclear explosion.

Feeling completely hopeless and defeated, Alex chose to walk away from the group. Katherine may be the only person in the world who could convince him to return.

Shortly after, Jake received an encrypted message from the USAF asking for him specifically. With this message seeming too integral to ignore, Jake traveled to the location as requested. Not only was Steven Ryker himself still alive, but he revealed he found the location of Manny.

With no other options to turn to, Jake must find his long-lost friends from his past to fight the infected one last time, and that's only considering that they would even be willing to help. Jake may need to make a colossal decision to convince not just them, but all of humanity...
