GTA IV Cops 'n' Crooks REDUX: On Foot Attempt to Westdyke Helicopter

CnC Club team: herbronite299, Big Sam Jackson, Foreign Frisian (Boss), xHHx Gizmo, Swayzehu, RecalledFool51 (random joiner), Hilly 1970, Jimbaton, and MortaL Pr3datoR.
Back in 2012-2013, CnC Club members mostly played against each other competitively. When playing against randoms however we set ourselves the extra challenge of making it to the getaway on foot. I uploaded one escape for every getaway in my On Foot Series, but recently realised I still had some surplus attempts recorded and I never uploaded back in the day - as it took us a while to draw all getaway variations randomly.
This one is an interesting match, even if the ending is disappointing. The PC version at this time had big influxes of players during Steam sales. We'd never seen any of them before, most of them were complete novices, and the making it to the getaway on foot was our way to make it a challenge. However, occasionally some players joining would have more knowledge of the game. That's the case in this round and we have to adapt quickly. I like this match because of how fast we get numbers back to the getaway and recover the situation when we are at risk of being embarrassed.
Another big highlight is Foreign Frisian asking Big Sam Jackson "what does Marcellus Wallace look like?"

Knowing we will go for an attempt to reach the getaway on foot next round, I look to create a score buffer for us in case we get bad weapons as crooks.

It becomes apparent at this stage that at least some of the random players on the other team have enough knowledge of the game to deploy basic tactics. The Boss has managed to get a car and slip through our fits wave of attack - and it is clear he is going only one way - to the Booth Tunnel Helicopter. My voice didn't record but I expect I will have suggested to my team mates that we pull back to defend the getaway in case he takes off before being overtaken.

At this stage Foreign Frisian is the only player we have defending, and he flags over the mic he has no extra weapons, and multiple crooks are inbound.

Whilst the Boss (Mrc1510) was smart enough to grab a helicopter, he clearly doesn't have the experience to avoid being crashing by Hilly1970 in the incoming cop Maverick. In the water he's a sitting duck with three cops in SMG range.

We proceed with our plan to go it on foot - although we're aware now not all of the players on the other team are complete novices. The advantage we have is we have a Boss with a Microphone who is able to alert us that the cops have spawned close. We pull back into the industrial area.

Too many for me to deal with out in the open, so I'm taken down for the first time in this match

We'd long reckoned on foot this was the best way out of the Aster Industrial Park start point. It's a short swim for the boss, and much safer than the bridges, but team mates do have to cover him to make sure he is not attacked at this point, ideally from both banks as we do here. We're then not bothered for a while except for a couple of lone cops, but we have Big Sam Jackson's stock lines to keep us entertained.
