"Guiding Light" is a computer-animated short motion picture that tells the story of a bulb bot wanting to escape the mundanity of an automated lifestyle in the miniature prototype world of tomorrow. The stylistic approaches to the visuals and animation, which I aimed to replicate (hand-made miniatures and stop-motion), support the recurring themes of control, automation, and reflection.

Idea, story, design, models, animation, lighting, rendering & video editing by Nikolai Jónasson (A Jono Niko Studio).


Made in Blender 3.3 and Unreal Engine 5 during the "Digital Playgrounds for the Online Public" course at the University of Edinburgh. Finalized in just 2 weeks.
