Captain Mai is one of the less newbie friendly fractal. It is totally possible that a pug team fail simply due to only one or two inexperience players.
The key mechanism is for the entire team to stay close because Mai will teleport and deal big damage to whoever is too far from her.
Since Mai is invulnerable until shocked, an inexperience player who running around will make things extra difficult, if not impossible.
Key Strategy:
- Stay close to Mai and the team
- watch for the aoe bomb, if it's not a shock, move little bit away from Mai so the team can move away. But as mentioned, the key is not to move too far away. Just a little bit away will do
- CC AFTER Mai hit the shock, so the team can DPS
- During bomb phase, experienced team usually ignore mobs. But the team can kill mob if the whole team agrees
- Again, NEVER run far and running around from Mai. As long as you stick with this rule, at least the others can help progress eventually
