A short video testing out the new June 23rd trait revamps for a power necro build. In this video I used the specs Spite, Soul Reaping, and Death Magic. Notable Pro's:

-This spec plays a lot like the pre-patch power necro builds. You still have your standard Spite and Soul Reaping. But Death Magic added more power and survivability to a power necro.

-On demand cleanse with Shrouded Removal, on 7 second cooldown. It synergizes well with the nerfed Consume Conditions. Using CC gives you 10 stacks of vulnerabilities now. I've already gotten used to flashing DS to get rid of it right away.

-Beyond the Veil gives you 3 secs of protection when leaving shroud. You can flash this every 7 seconds (DS cooldown).

-Corrupter's Fervor is an amazing trait, I was able to keep about 10 stacks of it during combat easily. With 10 stacks, my toughness got over 1700 while in death shroud (peaked at 1900). -20% condi damage is also nice since there's a lot of condi going around at the moment.

-My power peaked at over 4,000 (never happened pre-patch), so I'm able to get more tanky without sacrificing power. This was key, I didn't want to get weaker as a power necro.


Notable Con's:

-Lack of support utilities that everybody is all jazzed about right now with Blood Magic spec.

-No Enfeeble and Plague Sending, the two key traits for those taking Curses. But I tend to like Shrouded Removal better because I can decide when I want to cleanse myself of a condi. But aoe weakness is pretty awesome with Enfeeble in Curses line. Not to mention Terror, but Terror scales better with condi builds.

-For people looking to play power necros differently, you may want to look elsewhere. This spec plays a lot like the pre-revamp power necros. So you don't have a lot of extras. But for some people, like me, I liked how power necros played before.


This is my favorite spec right now post-patch. I'll be trying out other power necro specs, will make more videos later. I left the stats screen up so I can look back at it later to compare how the stats peak, average, and dip during combat with different traits.

Thanks to Commander Wenova for pinning up when there was no commander around. We were able to test some builds thanks to his driving (and they were nicely driven for a first run right after the patch)

About my videos:

I make these videos for fun. I like to capture good fights, as well as give shoutouts to commanders that did well making the calls leading folks to victory. Sometimes I capture videos just so I can look back and improve upon my own build and technique. I also like to see my own mistakes so I can learn from them.

These are not videos made to showoff or brag. The way I play these characters are also by far not perfect at all. I play strictly WvW in group/zerg battles, so my builds are not ideal for sPvP, solo roaming, or PvE.
