In this episode (covering the entirety of the chapters "Forget About Freeman" and "Lambda Core"), the U.S. marines beat a hasty retreat and evacuate Black Mesa, though not before demolishing a big chunk of the property with devastating airstrikes. Making his way through the heavily battered remnants of the Army and the ever-increasing legions of Alien Grunts and Vortigaunts, Gordon finally reaches the Lambda Complex, where he reactivates the reactor, acquaints himself with the awesome secret technology of teleportation, and makes his way to the last and most powerful laboratory. In there, he learns that the only chance of survival is for him to enter a portal to the Other Dimension itself - the alien world of Xen - and kill the super-powerful being that is holding open the rift between their world and ours.
[NOTE: This is a re-recorded higher resolution version of my original playthrough of Half-Life, with all the latest game patches from Valve as well as some third-party high texture mods and better lighting filters - nothing too drastic though, so as not to compromise the classic style of the game.]
