Playing a new series custom campaign called Half-Life: Field Intensity. It is a campaign mod developed by Hazard Team and has more features than vanilla Half-Life: Opposing Force. This mod is unofficially connected to the original Half-Life games. However, it unfolds the events within the Black Mesa Research Facility.

The players will assume control of Cpl. Stefan Oldfield. An H.E.C.U. Marine, a member of the first squad who has been deployed to Black Mesa Research Facility to silence the witnesses and exterminate unknown hostile forces that invaded Black Mesa. Cpl. Oldfield's radio operator and an old friend, Kevin assist the player throughout the mission.

Storyline:
Joining up with Squad Whiskey-Tango, Stefan takes part in the assault on the old teleporter lab, just as Rosenberg and company are making their escape. Barney, being the crafty man he is, takes advantage of your incredibly obvious breaching, and knocks out Stefan and the accompanying engineer with a satchel charge.

Waking up shortly after, Stefan realizes the laboratory is rapidly collapsing around him, and he needs to get out fast. With no other options, he rushes into the teleporter, and gets caught in a harmonic reflux. Stefan is uncontrollably teleported between areas around Black Mesa, including an entirely alien world, and is brought face to face with Black Operations forces, before the phenomenon releases him several dozen feet into the air.

With the wind completely knocked out of him, Stefan slowly fades to black, as a nearby scientist recovers his body...

Stefan Oldfield wakes up in a Black Mesa infirmary, all of his gear lost to the teleporter accident, with the exception of his Powered Combat Vest. The scientist who saved him laments their current situation: Black Mesa hoped that the military would rescue them from the aliens, but now it seems they're both at their mercy. Before Stefan leaves, the scientist grants him a portable medkit device, allowing him to heal his or his allies' wounds at any time. Nursing a headache, and with no other current goals than survival, Oldfield sets off to find a way out.

As Oldfield makes his way to the surface, he has to scrounge up any equipment he can find in order to survive; he finds a flashlight to replace his lost night vision, and he grabs a wrench and crowbar as impromptu weapons. A local security guard tells Oldfield that, despite knowing that the HECU is there to kill all the personnel, they will both be stuck if Oldfield doesn't escort the guard to upcoming checkpoints. The two of them work together and progress through the facility as far as they can, until an out-of-service elevator forces Stefan to go vent-climbing again.

Awaiting at the surface is a large parking garage center. Stefan comes face to face with a new breed of alien, one that seems actively hostile to the others that he's grown accustomed with. He encounters Squad Alpha, or rather, what's left of them: taking their leader's radio allows him to re-establish contact with Kevin. Their reunion is brief, however, as Kevin's transmission gets interrupted by a sudden attack. With nothing else in mind, Stefan proceeds to follow the latest orders to pull out.
