Joseph Staten is leaving Microsoft and Xbox behind. In a statement by Microsoft, it was revealed that the Senior Lead from Halo Infinite has left Xbox Publishing after the troubled development of Halo Infinite lead to 343i layoffs being a part of the 10000 layoffs by Microsoft earlier this year, despite Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles selling decently.

As a veteran to Halo, having worked on Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo ODST under Bungie, Staten lead the writing team for a lot of classic Halo. He's also credited with being the person who made anything out of Halo Infinite at all.

Microsoft is no stranger to losing top tier talent, and despite the Activision merger closing in, it looks like they will have even more trouble with their studio management moving forward if they can't keep established Xbox heads like Staten around.
