HardcorePredators: When #MeToo Goes Wrong
7,281An Instagram account by the named HardcorePredators quickly gained a lot of popularity when it began posting accusations of sexual harassment and abuse by members of popular hardcore bands such as Terror and Stone as well people who were in the hardcore scene in general. These accusations were quickly going viral, resulting in bands losing tour spots and the band Stone breaking up over the exposure. HardcorePredators gained a lot of support as the leaders of the hardcore music scene's #MeToo moment.
However, even many of the account's biggest supporters quickly turned on it after they posted an Instagram story requesting "more victims" that included a hitlist of several people's names that they wanted abuse stories involving. People criticized them for pressuring abuse victims and leading a witchhunt against people that nobody had even shared accusations towards.
After the blowback, HardcorePredators removed all of its content before deleting the account itself. However, after the identity of the account's admins became known, they were accused of sexual harassment themselves.
