I thought about doing an audio-visual tutorial, but I'm not great at editing or explaining. So, here's a strategy dump in text.


-- IN GENERAL --

Always prioritize whoever came first or whoever is most likely to kill.
The radar is your best friend, but sometimes, while you're not looking at it, grayling or a marcus gets near and you have to predict them by either knowing which marcus is next or by knowing Grayling's last position.

Pay attention to sound queues. Especially of normal marcus and grayling. Keep in mind sometimes the sound queues dont play.

Go to 350 in the beginning.


--- MARCUS ---
Marcuses attack in sequences. Repeat to yourself the next Marcus.
Classic Marcus attacks first, then normal marcus, but they sometimes switch places.

Meaning, if the next character was normal marcus and you haven't heard anything, either he's there and he didn't make a sound queue or classic Marcus appeared instead.
You can go 120 meters once you know one of the marcuses is there. Don't do this if shut is ready or if grayling is ready.

In late game, if you don't see any Marcus appear on the radar for like 40 meters, either classic or normal marcus is already there and you should immediately get rid of them.
Whenever you leave the vent room, you can immediately deal with a marcus if you're sure they're there. As in, next marcus is classic, so after spending some time on the vent, you probably did not see them appear on the radar in time and they are already there.

--- TOOLS ---
Ship integrity breaks about every 1000 meters. Horn breaks about every 600 meters and water about 800, if I'm not mistaken.

Break the horn on purpose if it's close to 30 or below, but make sure to get rid of the guy by that knocks on the window first and then immediately break it.

Try to break things in sync so you can fix multiple things at the same time. Also break whenever you have time to do so and you know grayling is there.

If ship integrity goes down, it's not the end of the world. You can stay a bit and manage whatever other things threaten you until you break something else.
Try to break something else while ship integrity is down if possible. But this does not mean "honk the horn from 60 to zero". Otherwise, fix the ship asap once you feel safe.
If ship integrity is down, you can still destroy obstacles. This might help if you have something in front of you and don't want to fix integrity twice.


Only refill water when it's equal or below 30.

If the water integrity reaches 10% you can still deal with 2 marcuses. Do not try to refill unless necessary (below or equal to 30).
If you don't have enough time to refill fully, only refill to get rid of marcus
If the water integrity reaches 5% and you still have water, try to deal with one marcus asap before it reaches 3 or 4%. You can still deal with one marcus. Otherwise, attempt to break the water integrity by refilling or using the water shower. But only when you have dealt with a marcus at 5% OR if water integrity is too low to be used.

If water integrity is at 2 or 1%, it's better to already be in the vent Room to fix it instead of trying to break it

-- OTHERS ---

Always leave Growler in stage one. If he goes to stage two, put him in stage one. If he goes to stage 3, put him in stage zero or one without breaking the horn.

In the vent Room, whenever you have to fix something, if scrap appears there, forcing you to leave, turn off your flashlight as to prevent starting to fix a pipe accidentally. This has happened multiple times when the front bottom pipe gets broken and you try to swing down to leave.

Don't forget rascal. But if you don't have time to get him and you already fixed everything and got rid of grayling, you can leave without clicking them.

QWERTY only needs one tap on the honk to leave and can knock on the window about 20 to 25 times if I'm not mistaken.

Shut appears every minute. If he takes 3 steps, instantly go to look at them.

-- KEEP IN MIND --
Try to be patient and don't panic in order to determine the best course of action. Most situations can be saved if you make the best decisions. Sometimes, it's better to risk dying to shut than dying to someone else.

Make sure to take deep breaths if you're struggling with your nerves.

Take breaks whenever. Watch other people's runs and try to learn from their thought process.

I'll repeat myself. The best thing to do is to go 120 meters if a Marcus just appeared & you dont have to deal with shut/grayling
