In the world of Kaiserreich nations have to deal with the effects of a weaker international order than in our timeline.
This is caused by Germany's overextension and inability to intervene in most crises around the world, and the lack of the small attempts at collective security organizations outside of europe, like the League of Nations.
This causes some problems for south america too. Brazil experienced a strong industrial growth throughout the last few decades, and conditions are ripe for a strenghtening of the syndicalist movement in its populous cities, with France providing an example of what the working class can achieve.
While the fast growth looked at first to be enough to keep the massive country stable under democracy, the leaders of the republic made a huge blunder and intervened in the war between Argentina and Bolivia. After some initial successes and with Buenos Aires in sight, the brazilian armed forces became overconfident and failed to consider the possibility of the devastating counter attack that followed. Thus in 1935 Argentina was handed Platinean hegemony on a silver(pun intended) platter, and Brazil was humiliated; from the far right came cries of treachery and stabs in the back, and the war gave an opportunity for the left to expand its influence among the mostly peasant conscript soldiers, and conditions seem ripe for revolutionary upheaval, with cries of "Let's do like France!" being uttered at ever-increasing strikes and occupations.
Faced with radical forces on the left and the right, disloyalty and scheming among army officers, and a crumbling international order offering no chance of "simply sitting it out" and letting the favourable winds of trade save their position, the country's liberal-democratic leaders look increasingly likely to fall. Who shall pick up the scraps is the question KR hands over to the player.
