"Once in a while, a game comes along that's meant for more than simple entertainment or artistic expression. Hell Bear 2000, its absurdly awesome title aside, is one such game, as it serves as a digital billboard with which to bring attention to a young artist in need. Daniel Somerville, of Tempe, AZ has recently undergone surgery to remove a debilitating brain tumor, and while the surgery went well, Daniel and his family are far from being in the clear. Due to his being uninsured at the time of his surgery, Daniel and his family are facing medical bills estimated to be in excess of $450,000.
That's why they need help, and that's why I spotlit this game. I don't know Daniel personally, but I'm a starving artist myself, and I empathize with Daniel and his situation on a deeply personal level. Whatever you can do, please give this family the help they need and deserve. Every little bit helps, whether it's monetary donations or increased exposure, no effort is wasted in helping this family keep food on their tables and roofs over their heads.
