Hellbound (Doom II) with Final Doomer+ and Voxel Doom (GzDoom) playthrough Part 6
0Only managed three maps today, and the first two were huge. The first one was a wonderful tribute to several classic maps, jumbled together with some extra stuff. Though a little bit of a slog with just how many enemies it had. And so many Archvile traps. So. Many. Archvile. Traps.
And then we're voodoo dolled again. Start the next map at blank. Argh. Next map had a WW1 style trench section with just massive hoards of enemies. ...That I just ran away from. Let them fight it out. Two spider masterminds and the rest of that mess, including even more archvile traps? No thank you. But after they thinned their own numbers out for a bit I went in and cleared up. And that was just the first huge section. There were more. Including a pair of Cyberdemons. All without the Totenhiem. But the minigun burns them down quite nicely, so no issues there. And onward, through the massive gate to hell.... Which voodoo dolls you again. ARGH! (Actually, it may not be voodoo doll, as it looks like it's causing an explosion that kills you, so maybe you're telefragging a bunch of barrels.)
The next level, in hell itself, has a little bit of inspiration from Doom 3, or maybe Doom 2016. You go in empty once more, gather things from a UAC outpost. Short map, but well done. It actually felt good having a more challenging map designed for pistol start at that point in the game. And I used the berserker pack to kick an Archvile in the nuts after yet another trap. That was satisfying. We're on the final-ish stretch now. Probably a few days yet with how big these maps are. But I'm still enjoying! -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
