Mutou Mitsuki, an ordinary student, is unexpectedly transported to another realm. Mutou is summoned by the king of this world for his alleged extraordinary power, but he is thrown out when it is discovered that he lacks a "Special Concept." While moping around, he meets a priestess named Menou, who informs him that Japanese people like him are known as Lost Ones, and that such people are prone to having Special Concepts.

Menou goes on to say that she is a member of a church that assists orphaned Lost Ones in reintegrating into society. She invites him to spend the night at her church so that the two of them can investigate the nature of his ability. They eventually learn that Mutou's Special Concept is extremely powerful and dangerous. While Mutou is celebrating, Menou reveals her true colors and stabs him in the head, instantly killing him.
