Higurashi Ch.5 (Pt 4): Neo & Shion Begin Seeing Signs of Satoshi's Impending Disappearance

Neo and Shion continue to spend their days with Satoshi in bliss, going so far as to join Satoshi's baseball team so Shion can spend more time with him. Shion cares little for the sport or the team itself, and Satoshi himself cannot strike a ball to save his life when it really counts, but even despite all this Satoshi's mere presence is enough to make each visiting/managing each practice session worth it.
However, with both the news of the upcoming Watanagashi festival as well as word of the domestic abuse Satoshi and his sister currently suffer from starting to ramp up, Satoshi starts to become more emotionally withdrawn from everyone around him and begins attending baseball practice and his club activities less and less, much to Shion's dismay. Indeed, Satoshi reportedly ends up quitting the team outright. Neo recognizes these developments as signs indicating that the peaceful days Shion is experiencing with Satoshi are numbered, and as a result he's filled with a sense of looming dread over things to come.
One day when Shion is waiting for Satoshi to come to a session of baseball practice, she decides to go home when it becomes obvious that he isn't going to show up. However, much to both Shion and Neo's surprise, they run into Rena Ryuugu, a friend of Mion's who also is a member of the same club that she runs at her own school. Rena mistakes Shion as Mion and begins inquiring with Mion as to what she's doing at the baseball team's practice session, and from there Shion effectively finds herself cornered, especially when Rena decides to accompany Shion "home", which forces Shion to make a detour to Hinamizawa so she can get rid of Rena.
But on the way home a heavy rain storm forces them to temporarily take shelter in a bus stop, and with nothing better to do the two talk about various topics. Satoshi is soon brought up, and shortly after THAT Rena begins talking about how Satoshi seems to be suffering from the "wrath of Oyashiro-sama". The sudden change in topic as well as Rena's intense demeanor when discussing Oyashiro-sama's "curse" turn a slightly awkward conversation for Shion into something both weird and unnerving, and Neo, meanwhile, begins experiencing Hinamizawa War flashbacks from Higurashi Ch.1 upon seeing the light-devouring gaze Rena's eyes are sporting as she talks about Oyashiro-sama's curse...
