The early civilization of the Indus Valley, located in present-day Pakistan and northwest India, was one of the earliest urban societies in the world. Its cities, such as Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa, featured advanced architecture, urban planning, and sewage systems. They also had a script that has yet to be deciphered, as well as a highly developed trade network with the Middle East and Central Asia.
Around 1500 BCE, a group of Indo-European migrants known as the Aryans migrated into the Indian subcontinent and established themselves in the northern plains.
