I got invited to a local convention recently to be a presenter just because I happened to be in the neighborhood, but I didn't really have time to prepare a fully-realized presentation by the time of the convention. Thankfully they let me spend 2 of my allotted hours on Q&A; and for the last hour I had to fill, I thought why not touch on some of the basic information that forms the historical spine of my upcoming series?
Obviously this is neither a thorough history of anime marketing, nor even did I touch on everything that these particular shows did, but I said about as much as I could about the history of anime marketing in the span of an unscripted hour and tried to focus on forming a sort of through-line across the decades. I hope it worked!
