In some of my previous videos I showed how the fake crowd system works in an actual level - this time it's about how to set it up in Wwise.

A regular 3D emitter is placed at the center of a volume box / collider which is connected to an entity that tracks amount of NPC's within the given area.

This gives us an ability to track the amount of NPC's in an area and convert that to an RTPC and place the emitter at the center of the area.
Using an attenuation curve which cuts the volume when close to the emitter resolves the issue around dialogue coming from seemingly nowhere when close to the character supposedly speaking.

Creating a custom attenuation for the background walla means then only this plays when close to the emitter and not the actual "words" of the fake crowd audio.

Using RTPC and attenuation curves to control the amount of send to a reverb Auxiliary Bus makes it possible to muffle the sounds exactly as needed when both close and far from the emitter.
