We are working with Campbelltown City Council, the University of Sydney and Habitat Innovation and Management to investigate artificial and supplementary hollows for Gang-gang Cockatoos and other hollow nesting birds.
Our honours student Liam Doherty has been observing a host of different species using these both natural and artificial hollows. Here is one of our Australian Wood Duck ducklings leaving it's Habitech modular hollow home. When it is fledgling time, the mother will head to the ground and call her ducklings to make the leap. It is a long way down (about 13 m!) but these ducklings are so light that they land safely.
