Homebody | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
188Homebody is a game I was very excited about covering. The game is produced by the GameGrumps who I have been watching for many years. Even to this day I still tune in whenever they play a Sonic game or other funny and obscure titles. They have produced a game before in the form of Dream Daddy, but Homebody is a very different thing.
Homebody is an homage to retro horror games, but not in the most common form. When developers talk about retro horror games they often talk about Resident Evil, but Homebody takes inspiration from games like Clock Tower and Alone in the Dark and gives a nice twist to that formula by introducing a timeloop.
We play as Emily who is headed to a large hut in the woods to watch a meteor shower with her friends. She soon finds out that the house holds all kinds of dark secrets and by solving puzzles we head deeper and deeper in an unnerving mystery. The game is really cool with offering information and hints on solving the next puzzle to progress and you feel like you can go just a bit further with each session you do. The game itself is not that linear and so if you are stuck at one particular puzzle, there are others you can focus on temporarily to avoid getting bored. I was always surprised to discover new twists and turns or even entire new areas with each puzzle I solved. The game also gave me a good scare or two and all in all it was a delight to play this. Personally I would have enjoyed it more if there were less puzzles that were solely focused on flipping switches, but that can be something to be added in a possible sequel. So if you are feeling a bit Grump, this game will make you NOT SO GRUMP!
