Now this is a "Proof of concept" video, capturing a 3D game in 5760x3600, and also a premiere for me.
Since Youtube cannot handle this (cannot even convert!) I had to upload a downscaled 2880x1800 version here. Use the usual tools to download that one. Original full 5760x3600 resolution .mkv at: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=401241CFC0F16659!133 - Notice: a GeForce 7200 cannot play it : ).
I never expected ANY 3D program to run beyond 4928x3080 since Windows 7 (currently) imposes that limit on desktop and when propagating the list of available video mode to games. Fact: The games CAN use resolutions beyond 4928x3080, the real surprise is that Homeworld 2 is the first program running in that insane resolution, and FRAPS is capable of capturing it!
Virtualdub ate 9.9 GB RAM during encoding before uploading. CAPTURING at 6K HD brings along quite an FPS hit, in this case: between 12 and 20 fps, depending on scene complexity. Playing was in 60+ fps.
Now the tricky question is: Any other game or demo capable to run beyond 4928x3080?
Working List:
Homeworld 2, good fps (60+ fps)
NoConcept (Evoke 2010 64k demo), good fps - Though the GFX style is rather simple.
Pandacube_pc-05_flux (Revision 2011 PC demo), good fps, makes use of the high resolution
ReText (Revision 2012 PC demo), good fps, though the "Text part" after ~ 10 seconds makes the high resolution useless.
Cubicle (Revision 2012 64k), good fps, but the demo doesn't make full use of the resolution it runs at due to its pixel shader.
Not working: any 3DMark stuff (crash), Doom 3 (no fullscreen), Nvidia New Dawn (reverts to 4928x3080), Bethesda games (crash), Frozen Synapse (reverts to 4928x3080)
