Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
Released in 1991, Hook: The Adventure Game is a point-and-click adventure, based on the Robin Williams movie.
The game tells the story of an adult Peter Pan, now grown up. Now known as Peter Banning, Peter has become a successful lawyer, but has forgotten all about his childhood past. This changes when Captain Hook, Pan's old nemesis, kidnaps his children and takes them to Neverland.
The game begins with Banning dumped in the middle of Pirate Town, and who must somehow find a way onto Hook's ship, where his children are held hostage.
Obviously, players are going to draw parallels between Hook and LucasArts' The Secret of Monkey Island. This is not a favourable comparison, sadly. Below the glossy presentation is a point and click adventure which, in my opinion, feels little too lightweight. There really aren't that many puzzles, nor is there much in the way of dialogue.
Ultimately, Hook looks excellent, but it's a buckle most definitely lacking its swash.
