Horizon Forbidden West - Ultra Hard - Low Level - New Game - Initial Equipment Challenge [PART 1]
1Not sure if this challenge has been done. But this came about when I was doing a similar Low Level-New Game challenge a few months back. After completing that, I thought what if we only use Aloy's initial equipment throughout the whole run, adding it to the low level and new game handicap I've already placed? Thus the challenge is born.
Rules are straight forward:
Low Level: Aloy will only gain EXP through main-story missions and bosses. No random encounters of any kind. I do gain some EXP through wild animals for resources. But they only give out measly amount to drastically help level Aloy up. So the wild animals were okay for this run. I reached the last boss at Level 23 from completing main-story missions.
Initial Equipment: As the rule implies, Aloy is only allowed to use/equip her initial equipment throughout the run. No other equipment is allowed. I sell every other equipment I find for Shards. We are allowed to fully upgrade Aloy's initial equipment.
New Game: Easy enough, start a new game from the main menu. No New Game+ files. So we run this challenge with a clean slate. I created a new profile on my PS5 to run this challenge. That way, I don't mess with the save file on my main account.
Ultra Hard Difficulty: Obviously, play a new game under the Ultra Hard difficulty setting. This cannot be changed in-game either. And the game does warn you about it. But for the sake of the challenge, choose that difficulty.
There will be a lot of deaths, especially in the later parts of the run where everything one shots Aloy. But if you have a plan, or can adjust as the fight progress, Aloy will come out on top. Being patient and learning from mistakes is how I got through those battles. I will show all my failures too during this challenge.
