Hi guys! This is the new Team Transport set I got from the store today! This is the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL which participated at the Goodwood Revival and was driven by David Coulthard. It comes with the big Euro Hauler truck which is its transport.
Hope you enjoy!😎
Description:
1. Mercedes-Benz 300 SL
Description:
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is a two-seat sports car designed by Rudolf Uhlenlaut and manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. The car is often termed the "Gullwing" due to its doors opening upwards. Introduced in 1954, the 300 SL was the fastest car of its time and was a constant championship contender in sports car racing. A total of 3,258 were produced.

This version of the 300 SL is very different from the Red Line Club-exclusive '55 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. It is based on a highly-modified version of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL entered by the IWC Racing Team, as opposed to a stock 300 SL as the RLC version replicates. Two were modified for the IWC Racing Team, with their maintenance being performed by HK-Engineering. The car was first shown off at the 2018 Goodwood Revival, driven by ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard.

The first release of the casting has a livery based on that of the real IWC Racing Team 300 SL shown off at the 2018 Goodwood Revival, although some differences between the real livery and the one on the model can be found.

International Watch Company has long pushed the envelope for precision timekeeping used in all kinds of applications, including motorsports. As you probably already know, IWC has deeper connections to motorsports than just supplying timepieces, joining in races with its own team. To honor the connection between the Swiss watch brand and car racing, Hot Wheels has collaborated with IWC to create the Hot Wheels IWC Racing Team Transport set.

This is a good-looking diecast set which would go great in your collection, whether you keep it in the packaging or take it out to display. It features a 1:64 scale replica of the Mercedes-Benz 300SL piloted by none other than Formula One legend David Coulthard for IWC.

The level of detail applied to this set is impressive. IWC worked closely with Hot Wheels to ensure everything looks perfect, right down to the racing wheels and bucket seats for the interior.

Another small detail racing fans will notice is in the packaging. The Goodwood Motor Circuit is referenced, the racetrack where Coulthard won the Tony Graze trophy in 2019 behind the wheel of the IWC Racing 300SL, so it’s obvious why.

You’ll note the racing livery is a little different than what you might remember from back in the day. It was created to celebrate the glory days of the legendary Mercedes Silver Arrow race cars. As for the number 68 on the car, it signifies the founding of Hot Wheels in 1968 as well as the founding of IWC in 1868, exactly 100 years apart.

The announcement of the Hot Wheels IWC Racing Team Transport set comes at an exciting time for IWC. A new flagship store for the brand is opening in Zurich, Switzerland, promising a more immersive shopping experience. Its theme will the IWC Racing Works and will be filled with references to the IWC classic racing team, including a full-sized Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.
More IWC sets from Hot Wheels are planned for the future, but no details have been released yet.

2. Euro Hauler
Mercedes-Benz O317 K Race Transporter
(1965 - 1982)
The Mercedes-Benz O317 was converted from a bus to a racing car transporter with the body from Stuttgart-based company Robert Schenk. The Porsche company had two transport vehicles specially developed for the requirements of motor sports in the mid sixties. These vehicles could not only transport the current favourite, the Porsche Carrera 6, but all the necessary spares such as engines, gearboxes and body parts as well. These two vehicles, often derisively labeled “removal vans”, were being used by the Porsche racing division well into the eighties.
