When Hot Wheels World Race was in development, the initial plan was for a top down racer, similar to many others and arguably better suited for both the budget and the hardware. Despite the plan seemingly being okayed by higher-ups, the directive came down to change the game to a Mode 7 style racer, and so they did with limited time, and as far as I can tell, no true extra resources. So while the game technically isn't unreleased, and shares the same genes as its final counterpart, it is radically different. No real sound effects in this one, and technically you can change the car in the race but I forgot to.

This build is from March 3, 2003, around 2 months prior to the Mode 7 takeover.
