"Digital Twin" is the new buzzword in IoT. "Digital Twins" basically are software representations of physical devices in an IoT platform. In times of growing complexity and diversity in the IoT platform landscape "Digital Twins" play an increasingly important role as they remove complexity for application developers when dealing with protocol adapters or device specific formats."

Eclipse Vorto can be used to define the capabilities and operations of devices as Information Models by using an easy-to-understand DSL. These information models are managed in either public or private repositories.

Code generators then convert the Information Models to generate code for devices, that handle the correct format exchange suited for your digital twins in the IoT platform.

This presentation will provide a short introduction about the Eclipse Vorto project and how it works. A live demo will show how an Information Model looks like, from e.g. the Bosch XDK or a Bosch tightening tool, and how we generate a Digital Twin for our OSGi based Bosch IoT Gateway Software ,and show what we are doing with to acutally integrate and use devices in our environment.
