For many comic book fans, Deadpool is most famous for his fourth wall-breaking shenanigans. Having a healing factor and a love of guns is one thing, but the merc with a mouth really makes his mark by cracking jokes directly toward the reader. So how does that work in a video game?
That was the question High Moon Studios had to answer when developing it. Thankfully, the team managed to find a pattern that continually raises the stakes and keeps the player as each level unfolds. This video examines that loop to see how it works in-game.
The Deadpool game was originally available on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox consoles. Unfortunately, the license has since lapsed, and you cannot buy it anymore unless you find a physical disc out in the wild. So don’t ask me how I made this video…
