One of the biggest challenges of owning a physical video game collection is determining how you store it. I mean if you are like me and have hundreds of physical disks, cartridges, boxes, and more, how do you store your retro video game collection? While I do use 3D Printing as a partial solution, I have found some pretty awesome CD racks that work great with many different types of games.

For me, I have a ton of NES, SNES, Genesis, and Master System games, along with a fair amount of Virtual Boy, GameCube, and other games. I happened to find a local seller on our Facebook Marketplace who was selling 2 CD-style storage racks, and she only wanted $20 for the pair.

I initially was going to try to load this up with Nintendo Switch Games, but I had far too many cases for one rack, and I didn't want to put one system's games in multiple racks. Next, I tried SNES games, but quickly found the cases I have are far too tall for these stands. Finally, I decided to use one rack for DS and 3DS games, along with GameCube and Virtual Boy games, while the other rack I used for Genesis and 32x Games. I was also able to use the tops of both of the shelving units for different things, as the GameCube Rack has my WaveBird 3D Printed stand on it, and the Genesis stand has my Genesis Mini 1 Tower of Power on it.

What is great about this is they have now opened up storage on the shelving units I was using so that I can make more logical choices regarding what goes where. I've been collecting more and more original Xbox games, so I now have enough storage for that, along with PS5 and Switch titles. I do wish these were a tick wider, and they had more support as they like to tip backward. But for $20 I can't complain a lot.

How do you store your physical video game disks and cartridges? Do you actively display them? Share your storage solutions down in the comments sections!
