How historically accurate is Nioh? Japan's biggest lore secret!
I've heard plenty of kids complain that Nioh is great except that you play as a 'white' guy that supposedly doesn't fit into the narrative... little do those kids know that this 'white' guys is no hero other than William Adams himself, the first western samurai, the guy that sailed from England (Ireland) to Japan.
That's half of the Nioh plot summarized in one sentence, the other half is obviously whole history of Japan, because Nioh is loosely based around it. It portrays people and events that took place in early days of Japan with a twist of magic and other weird not-so-Japanese stuff.
However, is it really accurate? Does it match real names and history if you drop the magic and amrita bullshit? What was adjusted for the sake of better and more engaging presentation? Today, I answer those questions!
