Map Making Tips
___________________
Tip #1 - No long expanses of flat terrain: Break it up by adding some height variations, gaps, vertical walls, or slopes

Tip #2 - Test your ceilings: Make sure your ceilings are high enough so that players are unable to quickly spam jump attacks

Tip # 3 - Don't make big maps: Small and medium sized maps are better for gameplay

Tip # 4 - No long ladders: shorter ladders allow for smoother gameplay

Tip # 5 - Make your elevators go fast: You don't want to make players wait

Tip # 6 - Give players multiple options: You don't want players to get trapped. Give them multiple
ways to escape

Tip # 7 - Use the Template Map: It contains many useful premade assets that you can copy and paste into your maps

Tip #8 - Space elevators away from edges: You don't want the elevator to scrape players on the ceiling

Tip #9 - Avoid putting terrain too close to the HP bar/ inventory screen: You want players to be able to see their character at all times

Tip #10 - Lock your solid tiles while creating the background

Tip #11 - Group tiles with Ctrl + G: Groups are useful when creating custom background elements

Tip #12 - Create a color scheme for your map: Sticking to fewer colors makes your map more unified. Avoid using a lot of random colors

Tip #13 - Don't forget to save often with Crtl + S: Sometimes the map editor may crash or some other accident such as a power outage may occur

Tip #14 - Add shadows to create the illusion of depth

Tip #15 - Don't put player spawns near edges: it's unfair to spawn players directly next to areas where they can die in one hit

Tip #16 - Helpful websites for naming your maps:

thefreedictionary.com
