Intel's ARC series of GPUs for gaming (HPG, High-Performance Gaming) will first launch in Q1 with Alchemist. This first-generation ARC GPU (again, known as Alchemist) from Intel will sport hardware based ray tracing, mesh shaders and all of the other latest buzz words, and also push Intel Graphics XeSS, which is their take on Nvidia's DLSS technology.
Intel's Alchemist though will be followed up by a series of next-gen cards, with Intel already confirming names of the GPUs such as Druid, Celestial and Battlemage. Intel's shorter-term strategy though seems to be one of eating into Nvidia's Market Share, by essentially replacing GeForce RTX mobile solutions with its own.
This makes sense due to Intel's extreme amounts of MDF (marketing development funds) and also their connections with OEMs. But, outside of this - Intel is also approaching a number of game developers now, and their strategy going forward will almost certainly to push Intel related gaming technology - a little like AMD and Nvidia has with how you see AMD or Nvidia sponsored PC titles (for example, Far Cry 6 embraces AMD's tech such as FSR).
Ultimately, from my sources, yes, Alchemist will be a shorter-lived graphics architecture, designed to push Intel ARC into mobile solutions and desktop for video cards. With higher performance products launching less than a year later. Further to this, this strategy from Nvidia is almost certainly why we're seeing both a mobile and desktop refresh of the RTX 30 series of cards.
