Karthik Venkatraman scored 10.0/13 to finish half a point ahead of all his competitors and win the national championships 2022. The tournament featured some of the strongest players of the country and Karthik remained unbeaten to clinch the title. The 23-year-old from Tirupathi now also qualifies for the World Cup 2022.

In this interview, we get to know Karthik better. We also speak to him about his favourite game from the tournament, which was his victory against GM Abhijeet Gupta. The game was filled with many ups and downs and we analyze it in depth. We also touch upon his win against one of India's latest GMs Koustav Chatterjee. With the victory Karthik also gets Rs.6 lakh which he can use to prepare better.

Until now he has had no trainer and works on chess on his own. He has enrolled for the Killer Chess Training program and loves to do the homework that is personally checked by GM Jacob Aagaard. Karthik talks about it in this interview.
