Troops have been marking the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne with gun salutes around the UK.

As Her Majesty's Accession Day Platinum Jubilee fell on a Sunday, tradition dictates that the royal salute is not fired until the following day.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired a 42-gun salute from Green Park at 12pm the next day, followed by a 62-gun salute by the Honourable Artillery Company, the City of London’s Reserve Army Regiment, at the Tower of London.
