How Theo Walcott could've fulfilled his potential
What if Theo Walcott fulfilled his potential? #Walcott
Theo Walcott burst onto the scene in 2005, becoming Southampton’s youngest ever player and being shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. A fine twelve months was capped his transfer to Arsenal that January for a staggering £12m. Without playing a first team game for Arsenal, Walcott mindbogglingly boarded the plane for the 2006 World Cup.
All the young promise, however, never truly materialised. There were times when Walcott appeared unplayable in his 12 years at Arsenal, but much more prevalent was a lack of consistency both in his position and in his performances.
Whether as a winger or as a central striker: Walcott did not hit the heights promised. Today, we ask: What if Theo Walcott fulfilled his potential?
