How to Basically Configure Cisco SDM Express using GNS3 and VMware | SYSNETTECH Solutions
12This video shows you the basic steps of configuring a Cisco Router from Cisco SDM Express software using VMware virtual machine with the GNS3 network simulator program.

For using #SDM #Express:
Step 1: First of all, install the Cisco SDM Express by following our previous video tutorial.
Step 2: Add a Router, Switch, and computer to the #GNS3 workspace and make their connections.
Step 3: After copying the SDM files to the Router's Flash, open a VMware virtual machine, and then type the Router's management IP address in the web browser and press Enter.
Step 4: After typing the user name and password in the authentication window, click the OK button.
Step 5: Wait while connecting to the router's management interface. Type the same login information in Java authentication and continue.
Step 6: Once Cisco SDM Express is open, you can basically configure the Router without typing any commands.
Step 7: Now, change the Router's hostname in the Basic Configuration section, and then click the Apply Changes button.
Step 8: In the Command Delivery Status section, you can see that the relevant commands have been sent to the Router.
Step 9: On the DHCP tab, you can create a new IP pool for clients. Here, after typing the beginning and last IP address according to your IP block, click Apply again.
Step 10: On the Security tab, check the options below and click the Apply button again.

➦ Enable services for enhanced security on the router/network
➦ Encrypt passwords
Step 11: Now execute the show running-config command at the Router's CLI prompt to verify all the settings you have made with the SDM and check the outputs.
