To install the #Cisco #SDM:

Step 1: First of all, install GNS3 on your computer, then run it and after creating a new project, add a Cisco Router, Cisco Switch, and Host PC to its working environment.

Step 2: Right-click on the #CiscoRouter and click Configure from the options that open.

Step 3: In the R1 Configuration window, configure the PCMCIA disk0 value in the Memories and Disks tab as 28 MB, and then click the OK button.

Step 4: Now start the Router and open its CLI command prompt and first assign an IP address to the FastEthernet interface connected to the Switch and open the port.

Step 5: In order to connect to the Router from the virtual machine via the web browser, create a privilege 15 user name and enable HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Configure the HTTP authentication method locally.

Step 6: Also, enable the ssh protocol over telnet for VTY connection.

Step 7: You have set the disk value to 28 MB so that you can copy the SDM's setup files to the Router's Flash. First, view the flash disk with the show flash command, and then format the disk with the erase flash command.

Step 8: When you check the size of the flash disk with the Show file systems command, you can see that the contents of the disk have been erased.

Step 9: Configure a separate IP block for the VMnet network connector of the virtual machine from the host and change the IP address of VMnet from the control panel on your host. In addition, check that the adapter setting of the VM is Custom / VMnet.

Step 10: Now, test the network connection by pinging the Router through the VM. If the test fails, temporarily turn off the Windows Firewall.

Step 11: Download the files required for SDM that we shared for you in our article to your computer and copy them to your virtual machine. Next, first, install Java 6u17 and add -Xmx256 value to the Runtime parameter field in the Java Runtime Environment Settings window from the control panel and click the OK button.

Step 12: Now run the setup file as an administrator in the SDM-V25 folder. When the Installation Wizard opens, click on the Next button. Accept the license agreement and click Next again.

Step 13: In the Install Options window, you will see the options This Computer, Cisco Router, and Both (computer and router). In this window, you need to choose which device to install. Since we will be installing the Router in this video tutorial, select the Cisco Router option and click Next.

Step 14: In the Router Authentication window, type the IP address of the Router and the username/password you created and click Next.

Step 15: At this stage, a connection will be provided to the Router. Wait for a while.

Step 16: In the Finish Installation Options window, select Typical and click Next.

Step 17: In the Select Cisco SDM Components window, leave both options as default and click Next.

Step 18: Finally, start the installation by clicking the Install button. At this stage, you can see that the Router's CLI is processed via VTY.

Step 19: Wait while Cisco SDM is copied to the Router.

Step 20: After the installation is complete, launch SDM. In the meantime, the web browser selected by default in the virtual machine will open and the IP address of the Router will be in the URL address section. In the Windows Security window, enter the user information you created on the router and click the OK button.

Step 21: If the browser sends you an error message, add the Router's IP address to the browser's compatibility view list. If you're trying to reconnect sends warnings at the bottom, allow them.

Step 22: If the connection is successful, the Java Authentication Required window will open. Enter user information here and click OK.

Step 23: After a moment, the SDM software will open and load the existing configurations on the Router.
