36You want to know how to be less awkward? The first thing to do is to stop thinking of yourself that way. In this video, I'll share 5 easy to implement tips that will help you shine in social situations and be much less socially awkward.
The first tip is to give yourself some credit for working on this because it's not easy and to face discomfort is so much harder than playing fortnight for another few hours.\
Second, the fear you feel isn't you. It isn't real. It is a construct of your ego to put you into to distress to avoid the situation entirely. Your ego has a way out of whack perception of self vs others, and constantly misconstrues threats where threats do not exist.
Third, you get out what you put into things. So, pretend the person is already intersted in you. Be interested in them. This will make the conversation smoother and less awkward for everyone involved.
Focus on Listening to the other person. ask them questions about what they just said. Instead of waiting for your turn, like 90% of the rest of the world, wait until they finish speaking and then ask them a question about what they just said. People will be delighted to continue to share about themselves and they will feel amazing as they leave the conversation, even if you barely said anything
People aren't as judgemental as you think. Sure, there are some doofuses running around being weird and focusing on what other people are doing constantly - but just ignore them, everyone else does! Haters gonna hate! Seriously, they are so few and far between they are irrelevant. People that are focusing on others in that way will not make it far... Unless they can realize they need to focus on themselves and their personal growth in order to move into something better.
