How to Beat the Absolute Radiance in Hollow Knight
5,757The Absolute Radiance is easily the hardest boss in Hollow Knight. It took me a VERY long time to beat her. In this tutorial I will break down what I am thinking through each of the six different phases and how to win!
in order to practice the absolute radiance you must first make it to the end of the 5th pantheon. Once you encounter the Absolute Radiance once, you can then fight here over and over again in the Hall of Gods.
The charms that I used were Unbreakable Strength, Shaman Stone, Quick Smash and Long Nail.
Now it is time to break down the fight into the six different phases:
Phase 1: In the beginning it is all about taking it nice and easy without taking any damage. The Absolute Radiance will start off front and center allowing you to do a fill jump and two nail strikes per jump using the Quick Slash charm. Do your best to not take any damage here
Phase 2: Spikes will start to show on the ground on the left or right side of the stage. Here you will have a decent amount of soul saved up. Go ahead and use the abyss shriek spell three times. Once that is done, it will only take a couple of nail hits to get into the 3rd phase. The main goal is to get through phase 2 as quickly as possible.
Phase 3: Spikes will show up on the ground on both the far left and far right of the stage. The Absolute Radiance will appear in the center of the stage leaving herself open to more double nail strikes. While this is going on there are nails raining down from the sky. There is always a gap and an opening, so don't rush! Get hits in and move as needed.
Phase 4: this is arguably the hardest phase. There are a handful of platforms and it feels like the Absolute Radiance is always running away from you. Just note that if the Radiance is far away from you, stay on the opposite side of the map and let her come to you. If the orange orbs start coming your way, move to the bottom platform as it is the safest. Once the radiance spawns on top of you, use the desolate dive defensively for invincibility frames and attack up to deal as much damage as possible.
Phase 5: There are two schools of though for the climb. First off you can jump off to the side and then dash back to the platform you want to be on. The other option is to always jump straight up and make slight changes as needed. I personally like to jump straight up and make very minor adjustments.
Phase 6: THE FINAL PHASE! Once you make it here, your chances for winning are super high. If the Absolute Radiance is super far away from you, just double jump over the orbs so they de-spawn off the map. If AR gets close you can down pogo on her head and let the orange orbs de-spawn as they leave the map. Just remember to use your double jump and dash to say up. After 2 pogos, she will move to the other side of the map.
