The current August 2016 version of Starbound 1.0 lacks crafting recipes for the old-style fixed elevators, but you can still create Starbound elevators using the rail crafting station, which are the revamped version of skyrails from early access.

This new Starbound elevator tutorial shows you how to build and wire elevators that stop at two or more floors, with buttons to call and operate the elevators.

The new Starbound elevators uses rails, moving platforms and other rail components to work. We also use buttons.

* UPDATE: The rail bumpers are not necessary if your rail stoppers are placed at the very end of the track. *

Also in this Starbound elevator tutorial, we see the limitations of our method, including what happens when the platform goes too fast for the logic to cope, and a possible way around it using logic gates and rail sensors.
