How to change display resolutions on your Mac - Apple Silicon M1 Big Sur
In this video I'm showing my mate, Terry, how to make the icons and text bigger on his Mac video monitor. Terry also uses the new Apple Silicon M1 Mac Mini, like I do, although this video should be useful for other Mac users.
One thing worth mentioning as well is that this is not how to change the video resolution on a Mac or how to change the video monitor resolution of a monitor connected to a Mac.
I'm not sure if all the previous Mac operating systems done the same thing as I'm doing here in this video but this is definitely the case for MacOS Big Sur. I would also imagine that this sizing and rescaling will work on any Mac that uses Big Sur, even older Intel Macs and it should be good for all new Apple Silicon M1 Macs such as the MacBook Pro M1 and MacPro Air M1.
One thing to remember here is that we are not changing the physical output resolution to your video monitor from your Mac. As you can see in the video my monitor is 3840x2160 4K and my Mac Mini M1 is also set to 4K for its output. So, instead of changing the video monitor resolution or the output resolution we are simply scaling the video output of the Mac.
As you can see in the video, because my monitor is 4K, I'm able to select most common resolutions up to 4K as my resize scaling option. So basically I get the option of 1440p 1080p and 720p. The P just means it's progressive scan at the resolutions of 2560x1440 1920x1080 and 1280x720.
