In this video, I’ll show you how to adjust the keyboard character repeat delay and repeat rate in Windows. Customizing these settings can help improve typing speed and accuracy, based on your preferences.
If your Windows device has a physical keyboard, you can adjust the character repeat delay and rate for when you press and hold a key.
The repeat delay is the time gap between pressing a key and when it starts repeating, while the repeat rate controls how fast the key repeats.
This guide will show you how to adjust the keyboard repeat delay and rate for your account in Windows 7, 8, 10 & 11.
If you find that pressing a key for too long causes multiple characters to appear, this tutorial will explain how to slow down the repeat rate. Microsoft added this feature to prevent accidental repeated characters. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, you may want to enable the FilterKeys feature to further help.
