How to Change the video Clip Recording Resolution & Time on Xbox Series X (Settings Tutorial)
Let’s explore how you can adjust video clip recording settings on your Xbox Series X. You have a couple of options to customize the resolution and duration of your recorded clips:
Classic Method:
Navigate to the Settings tab from the home dashboard or by pressing the Xbox button on your controller.
Select Preferences from the left side of the screen.
Choose Capture and Share from the new options that appear.
Here, you can adjust the length of clips and other settings like resolution.
Quick Shortcut:
Hold down the middle Xbox button on your controller to bring up a pop-out menu.
Scroll right until you find the Capture & Share section (it looks like a tray with an arrow pointing upwards).
Scroll down to Capture settings at the bottom.
In Capture settings, you can not only change the clip length, but also adjust the resolution.
Keep in mind that the quality of a clip affects its duration:
720p captures allow up to 5 minutes of recording.
1080p captures are limited to 2 minutes.
4K captures can only be 30 seconds long.
If you’re looking to capture longer clips without time restrictions, consider using an Elgato or a similar capture device. These devices save video files to a laptop or PC, bypassing any time limits (though your hard drive space becomes the only constraint).
