Quick guide on how to Pair your Xbox Controller (Xbox One Controller in the case of this tutorial but any Wireless kit will work) with the Xbox Wireless USB Adapter. Which just involves plugging it in, hitting the pairing button on the Adapter, then pressing the same pairing button on the Xbox Controller.

Do you need a wireless Adapter to use your Wireless Xbox Controller on PC? Yes. Because the Xbox controllers use a special form of Wifi to communicate, rather than just standard bluetooth.

If you use Windows 10. You do NOT need any additional drivers. The Xbox Drivers are built into your Operating system.
