One of the most difficult things to do in modern city builders is demonstrate that your city has a history. This is especially the case in Cities Skylines 2, where all buildings look new, and architecture remains static through time. One thing that we can do to evoke a sense of history by the way that we design out transportation networks – designing them with a specific period in mind.

In today’s episode, we’ll do just that – attempting to create an inner-ring suburb / streetcar suburb that would have been build in the late 1800s – 1930s. These suburbs were built around trams and have land use and transportation network patterns unique to this period of time. We’ll go over transportation network design, implementing trams, and land use planning, with an aim for emulating these suburbs in Twotoria. In future episodes, we’ll emulate additional land use patterns based upon time periods as well.
