Deactivating your PSN account on your PS4 is critical before you either give the device to someone else or sell it. Deactivating your PlayStation Network account from a PS4 means that no one will be able to play games you've purchased, use your PlayStation Plus benefits, automatically download content you purchase and more on that specific device. To be clear, I'll just show you how to deactivate your PSN account on the PS4 if you still have access to that device. If you need to deactivate your PS4 remotely, I'll link to my video in the description and pinned comment that will show you how to do that.
Now let's walk through the steps to deactivate your PSN account on your PS4.
Step 1. Navigate to your PlayStation 4 home screen, and then navigate up the screen to view the menu bar.
Step 2. Click "Settings" in this list. The PS4 Settings screen is displayed.
Step 3. Click "Account Management" on this screen. The Account Management screen opens.
Step 4. Click "Activate As Your Primary PS4" on this screen. The Activate As Your Primary PS4 screen is shown.
Step 5. Click "Deactivate" on this screen. A Deactivate screen is displayed, letting you know what you and others who use this PlayStation 4 won't be able to do if you move forward with deactivating this PS4.
Step 6. Review this list to confirm this is what you want to do, and then click "Yes" to move forward. A message letting you know that your device is being deactivated will be shown briefly on the screen, before a Deactivated message is displayed, letting you know that the process to deactivate your PS4 is complete.
