How to deal with the fake floors in Mega Man 2 (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #megaman2
728In the fourth Dr. Wily stage of Mega Man 2 for the NES, there are two particularly annoying rooms with fake floors that you can AND WILL fall through. There are two relatively simple ways to conquer these fake floors.
The first method is to shoot Bubble Lead in whichever direction you're traveling. This weapon creates a bubble that crawls along the floor, and will fall down any pits it encounters. Obviously when you see the bubble fall through the floor, that's where the floor is fake.
The second method is a simple zip glitch that will allow you to SKIP the room with the false floor above the spikes. This method is great for speed runs because it saves you a good eight seconds or so.
SO in the room just before the false floors and the spikes (it's the room with the less dangerous fake floors) stand just below the ladder facing to the left. You'll want Mega Man's front foot directly below the middle of the ladder. Equip Item-3.
Then press A and B at the same time to do a full jump while throwing an Item-3. The Item-3 Platform should begin to rise up the wall, and you'll land on the right edge of it. After a second or so, it will push Mega Man through the ceiling.
Now, press A TWICE to jump twice, then hold UP and LEFT. Mega Man should begin to climb the ladder, and he will skip right past the next room and into the one after that. Neat!
